Butler began cheerleading when she was eight years old, while still living in Florida. She was a member of the ‘Top Gun and Trinity All-Star gym. While still winning several local titles, she competed in the World titles in 2010 as part of the ‘Top Gun and Trinity team. She was wounded a month before the competition and was unable to compete. She was going to give up cheerleading after her disappointment when her career took a turn for the better. She was given the opportunity to cheer for the ‘Cali SMOED All-Star team in California. This new lease on life meant she had to leave Florida and join the team. She and the team went on to win the World Championships in 2013 and 2014. In 2014, she also won a jacket in the NCA along with her team but it was also her last year as part of ‘Cali SMOED’.
In November of the same year, she joined the international squad ‘Gymtyme Blink IOC5’ and has continued to support them to this day. Her two World Championship rings, as well as her participation in the reality web series ‘Cheerleaders’ (2013), catapulted her to the top of the competitive cheering world. The first episode, ‘Eat, Sleep, Cheer,’ aired on March 3, 2013, and received positive feedback from viewers. It shows her team ‘Cali SMOED’ preparing for the World Championship. On October 20, 2013, the final episode, ‘The Out of Towners,’ aired. Butler has also made it a point to teach young athletes all over the world about cheerleading. She had made it clear that she intends on making sure that her legacy is defined not only by her achievements in the sport but also by what she has given back to the community.
