Prior to becoming an advocate, Lovitz worked in a number of national tours of Broadway productions, regional theatres, and television series. President Joe Biden appointed Lovitz as Director of Public Affairs and Senior Advisor at the US Economic Development Administration within the US Department of Commerce in February 2023. He directs communications and public policy strategies in support of Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and Assistant Secretary Alejandra Y. Castillo’s agenda. Lovitz announced his candidature for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in the 182nd district, which includes Centre City Philadelphia, in April 2021.
From 2006 to 2008, Lovitz toured the United States with two national touring productions of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat and Jesus Christ Superstar. Lovitz began her career in smaller theatres before moving on to tiny roles on television. Lovitz joined Logo TV as an on-air LGBT interviewer. Lovitz joined the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce as Vice President of External Affairs and Director of nglccNY in 2015, and has been Senior Vice President since 2016. Lovitz supervises media relations and public policy activities aimed at the LGBT business community at the NGLCC. He led the efforts to write, campaign for, and execute policies for the inclusion of certified LGBT Business Enterprises (LGBTBEs) in the public sector as the head of the NGLCC advocacy section.
