Markham portrayed Luke and Ken Carpenter in the ABC sitcom The Second Hundred Years from 1967 to 1968, and Harry Kellem in the original Hawaii Five-O. He starred in the television series Mr. Deeds Goes to Town, based on the 1936 film of the same name, from 1969 to 1970.

Markham played Perry Mason in The New Perry Mason (1973-1974). He also played racing driver-turned-cyborg “Barney Miller” in The Six Million Dollar Man’s second-season episode “The Seven Million Dollar Man,” which aired on November 1, 1974. Markham returned the role in the third-season episode “The Bionic Criminal” on November 9, 1975, with the character’s name changed to “Barney Hiller”. Markham also performed the twin parts of Vince Barrett and Rick Hatfield in the Barnaby Jones episode “Doomed Alibi” and the criminally insane character Pike in the revival of The Invisible Man’s episode “Power Play” the same year.

Markham featured in two episodes of the NBC sitcom The Golden Girls as Blanche Devereaux’s brother Clayton Hollingsworth. In the mid to late 1990s, he narrated various documentary series that aired on the History Channel, including The Great Ships, Air Combat, and Combat at Sea.
