Lee started her career behind the scenes at Dateline NBC, where she helped research topics both undercover and on camera. Prior to working in Washington, DC, she reported on the air in Greenville, North Carolina and at WTVR-TV in Richmond, Virginia. As a correspondent for NBC and MSNBC’s Washington office, she was the on-scene reporter during the 2002 Quecreek Mine Rescue, in which nine coal workers were trapped and rescued from a Pennsylvania mine. She reported on the DC Sniper inquiry and from The Pentagon on September 11th and subsequent days. She also reported on Hurricanes Bertha (1996), Fran (1996), Bonnie (1998), Dennis (1999), and Floyd (1999). Prior to her position at WJLA, she worked as a national correspondent for the Washington Bureau of NBC News and as a reporter for WRC-TV in Washington, DC. She was named one of Korea’s Future Leaders by the JoongAng Ilbo, one of Korea’s “big three newspapers”.

Her efforts have won her an Emmy nomination and three Virginia Associated Press Awards. She formerly served as Broadcast Vice President of the Asian American Journalists Association’s DC Chapter and was named one of Korea’s Future Leaders by the JoongAng Ilbo. She was designated a Knight Fellow for Specialized Journalism. Her focus was on the American military. She was one of 26 WJLA employees thrown off on January 23, 2009, due to what station managers described as “a financial necessity in light of economic straits”. She and her husband, H.K. Park, have two children and created a guide to Arlington County, Virginia’s playgrounds. In June 2016, their children published a second book entitled “How Your City Works.
