Michael has been a member of the weather team at ABC 21 Alive (WPTA-TV) in Fort Wayne, Indiana, since late 2012. He worked as a weather specialist there for three years, filling in as necessary and covering everything from severe weather to big winter storms. Work on the weather for NBC 33 (WISE-TV) in Fort Wayne and My TV 20 (WMYD-TV) in Detroit was also part of this job. Following that, Michael relocated to the north in 2016, spending a year with CBS affiliate WNEM-TV 5 in Saginaw, Michigan. Michael was predominantly TV 5’s weekend morning meteorologist, but he could also be found on-air throughout the week and on their secondary channel, MY 5.

Michael has previously worked on the weather team at WISH-TV in Indianapolis, a CBS affiliate at the time, where he interned in the summer of 2014, and as a student volunteer at the National Weather Service office in Indianapolis in the summer of 2015. Michael was most recently the morning meteorologist for 13 On Your Side sister station CBS 19 (KYTX-TV) in Tyler, Texas.

He worked there from 2018 till 2020, when he relocated to Grand Rapids. He obtained vital experience tracking and forecasting severe weather in one of the country’s busiest regions during his time there. Michael worked as a reporter, producer, forecaster, technical operations director, assistant general manager, and chief weather forecaster for the student radio station WCRD 91.3 FM, as well as forecaster, producer, and chief weather forecaster for NewsLink Indiana, Ball State’s nightly television newscast. Michael also spent his whole time at Ball State as a member of the Storm Chase Team, participating in many storm chase competitions and earning his HAM radio license.

Several scholarships and honors were given to Michael throughout his time at Ball State, including the David L. Odom Award for Outstanding Service in Meteorology and Climatology and a Society of Professional Journalism award for best television newscast, to name a few. The Broadcast Education Association gave him a second-place prize for outstanding student weathercast. Michael competed against kids from all over the country for this honor, beating out many of the finest and brightest in the field.
