From the state of Colorado, Ms. Hoover attended school at Graland Country Day School in Denver. In 2001, she joined Bryn Mawr College to study Spanish literature and also took a minor in political science. She earned a B.A. upon completing her studies. She was also a student at Davidson College for two years.

Margaret Hoover as a Gay Rights Activist

As mentioned earlier, Ms. Hoover advocates for gay rights which include gay marriage. Her argument for supporting that which is largely not accepted by many people belonging to her political affiliation is that, individual freedom and marriage are conservative values. She signed an amicus curiae brief in 2013 which was handed to the Supreme Court in support of same-sex marriage in Hollingsworth v. Perry.
