Lindsey Russell Blue Peter

Lindsey was voted the 36th presenter in 2013 through Blue Peter – You Decide!, a series of five episodes hosted by Dick and Dom in which ten potential presenters were given a range of tests to prove their worthiness for the role. Cel Spellman, Eamonn Holmes, and Myleene Klass chose on the final three, after which viewers may vote online. Russell joined Blue Peter in September of that year, just before Skelton’s departure and the introduction of her replacement, Radzi Chinyanganya.

The Blue Peter team, which included Harwood, Russell, and Chinyanganya, launched a new format in October 2013 with a more traditional approach on the show. In 2014, they debuted Blue Peter Bites, which are five-minute excerpts from CBBC shows, as well as guide pup Iggy. George, a kid gardener, maintains the Blue Peter Garden. The team also used the website to provide quizzes, movies, and fan club hours. A popular game called Spot Shelley was created, in which viewers had to make comments on the website throughout the show. Harwood left in September 2017, after the show reverted to 5:30 p.m. in April 2017.

During the summer, the team challenges viewers to complete all of their badges with the exception of orange and gold. The team also demonstrates ways to keep badges in/on, such as the Badge Baton Relay in 2016 and the Big Badge Boat Bonanza in 2017.

Lindsey Russell Career

Russell won a competition to choose the next Blue Peter presenter, which drew 20,000 applicants and was assessed by a panel of TV broadcasters including Eamonn Holmes and Myleene Klass. She landed the role shortly after graduating from the University of Bristol with a four-year French and drama degree.

In 2016, Russell attempted to traverse the 21-mile border between Northern Ireland and Scotland in a three-metre zorb to benefit Sport Relief. She had to cancel the attempt owing to inclement weather. She left Blue Peter on July 15, 2021, breaking the world record for the quickest time to dress in cricket whites on her final program.

Russell revealed on December 16, 2021, that he would join Heart Radio in January 2022 to program Saturdays and Sundays from 1am to 6am. From 2023, Russell will present the early breakfast Monday through Friday from 4-6:30am on Heart Radio.
