Katherine Ryan is a stand-up comedian, presenter, writer, and actress from Canada and based in the UK. Ryan is known for her work on several British shows such as Mock the Week, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, A League of Their Own, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Would I Lie to You?, QI, Just a Minute, Safeword, and Have I Got News for You.

Katherine has Irish ancestry from his paternal side. His father moved to Canada from Ireland. He owns an engineering company and is also a draftsman while her mother owns an IT consulting company and she is from Canada. They are Finbar Ryan and Julie McCarthy, respectively.
Katherine has two younger siblings, both sisters. The Ryan family lived in Sarnia and would often visit their father’s parents in Ireland. However, their parents parted ways when Katherine was 15 years old and by the age of 18, she left home for the University of Toronto to study city planning.

Kootstra is also a Canada native and is believed to be working in the broadcast industry. Katherine Ryan Stand-Up Career
While Ryan was a university student, she began working at Hooters, a restaurant chain. She also took part in training other waitresses. The job did not last long as she was fired after some time. She then ventured into open mic night performances, mainly to entertain herself. It worked out for her such that by the time she completed her studies, she had established a basic comedy routine for herself.
Ryan’s waitresses training job with Hooters went on even after her graduation, leading her to the UK where they opened a branch in Nottingham. She moved to the UK on a permanent basis in January 2008. While in England, she appeared on Channel 4’s 8 Out of 10 Cats in 2012 and on February 23, 2013, she was a celebrity contestant on BBC One’s Let’s Dance for Comic Relief dancing to “Starships” as Nicki Minaj. She finished in fourth place in the competition.
She also ventured into comedy professionally and on July 28, 2013, she featured on the Just for Laughs 2013 Gala by Whitney Cummings that was performed in front of a live audience. She has also performed on the Edinburgh Festival over the years.
Venturing into media presenting, Katherine got to replace Welsh TV presenter, Steve Jones, in 2015 on Hair that airs on BBC Two. In the same year, she joined the Tinie Tempah’s team panel on Sky 1’s music/comedy panel show Bring the Noise and on the ITV2 show, Safeword. On the second series of Taskmaster, in 2016, Katherine beat Doc Brown, Richard Osman, Joe Wilkinson and Jon Richardson and won the series.
