Ifueko’s first book, Raybearer, was released by Abrams Books on August 18, 2020. It was inspired in part by her West African heritage and other world cultures. The book quickly became a New York Times bestseller and was nominated for several awards, including the Andre Norton Award, the Goodreads Choice Award, and the American Library Association’s (ALA) Amazing Audiobooks for Young Adults and ALA Top Ten Best Fiction. A sequel, Redemptor, was released in 2021 and was nominated for several awards, including the Ignyte Awards, the Lodestar Award, and the Andre Norton Award. It was revealed in September 2021 that Netflix, as part of a new overall contract with Gina Atwater, will be turning Raybearer into a television series. Atwater is the project’s writer, director, and producer. Suger23 and Macro Television Studios are producing it. Marvel Comics said in July 2022 that Ifueko will be penning a new Moon Girl & Devils Dinosaur comic, which will be illustrated by Alba Glez and released in December.
