Tupper appeared in a number of off-Broadway productions, including An Actor Prepares and After the Rain. He co-wrote and starred in Loudmouth Soup, a completely improvised independent film shot in one night with no plot and no second takes, in 2005. Tupper first appeared as Jack Slattery in the ABC series Men in Trees, where he was credited for all 36 episodes. He then starred for 22 episodes as Dr. Chris Sands in the NBC medical drama Mercy. Tupper appears on Grey’s Anatomy as trauma psychotherapist Dr. Andrew Perkins. He appears in seven episodes in the seventh season of the show. Tupper was a regular on ABC’s Revenge from 2011 until it was canceled in 2015. He played the role of David Clarke, the main character’s apparently deceased father.
For the first three seasons, his character had a recurring role but only appeared in flashbacks and videos. Tupper was elevated to the main cast for season four after it was revealed that his character was still alive in the season three finale. Aftermath, a post-apocalyptic action thriller created in British Columbia, Canada, premiered on Canada’s Space Network and America’s Syfy Network on September 27, 2016. While starring in this show, his real-life partner Anne Heche played his wife. Tupper was a co-producer on the show in addition to appearing in it. The 13-episode inaugural season concluded in December 2016; the series was not renewed.
