Erica Ash was an actress, comedian, model and singer from the United States of America. Ms. Ash passed away on July 28, 2024 from breast cancer. In her acting career Ash is fondly remembered for her roles on MADtv and The Big Gay Sketch comedy programs as well as in Survivor’s Remorse, a Starz sitcom.

Born as Erica Chantal Ash, the Survivor’s Remorse star was 46 years old when she passed away on July 28, 2024. She was born on September 19, 1977 in Florida, USA to Diana Ash and Donald Ash.

Ms. Ash grew up in several parts of the world as her parents were in the U.S. military and the family moved often. She attended Emory University and graduated with a degree in pre-medicine and was ready to attend med-school. However, she went for a trip to Japan and was a backup singer and runway model. This encounter made her change her mind from attending medical school and begin a career in entertainment.

Ash’s Entertainment Career

Back in Atlanta, Ms. Ash had attended a performing arts school thus getting into entertainment was easy for her. She began with roles in Broadway showsin early 2006. The shows included “The Lion King”.

She auditioned for a role in “The Big Gay Sketch Show”, a LGBT-themed cable television sketch comedy show that debuted in April 2007. Ms. Ash appeared on the show for two seasons. She had multiple characters on the show and they included an uncouth fitness instructor called LaTanya who taught yoga and pilates with a “Chicago-style” twist.

In 2008, Ash joined another sketch comedy television series by the name MADtv in it’s 14th season on FOX. She was a feature performer and the fifth African-American female cast member when she joined.
