After graduating from Tulane, Hazlett worked in editorial positions at Boating and Yachting magazines, eventually rising to the rank of senior editor. After enrolling in Columbia’s graduate journalism program, she worked as a reporter for TheSmokingGun.com, People Magazine, and OK! Magazine. She also worked for Golf World magazine at one point. While at OK! Magazine, she began working as a guest correspondent for CNN and MSNBC, where she became a regular on Joe Scarborough’s shows Scarborough Country and Morning Joe. In October 2007, Hazlett departed OK! to take up “The Scoop” column on msnbc.com, succeeding Jeannette Walls.
