Bruckner competed in a beauty contest as a child model when she was eight years old, at the recommendation of her mother. Bruckner was raised in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles until the age of five, then in Portland, Oregon until the age of ten, when her family relocated to Burbank so she could pursue an acting career in Los Angeles. Bruckner started her career at age 11. From 1997 to 1999, she played Bridget Forrester on the daytime serial opera The Bold and the Beautiful, as well as in commercials and a few TV pilots. At the age of 15, Bruckner obtained her first starring part in the independent film Blue Car (2002).
