From 1992 through January 2016, Olney hosted Which Way, L.A.?, a local public affairs show on KCRW. Olney graduated from Amherst College with a BA in English and taught broadcast journalism at USC from 1976 to 1982. Olney worked as a reporter for CBS affiliate WTOP-TV (now WUSA-TV) in Washington, D.C., from 1966 until 1969. After leaving WTOP-TV, he moved to Los Angeles and worked at KNXT/KCBS-TV-Channel 2 (1969-1975 and 1986-1989).
