As a three year old, Travis began experimenting with music thanks to a drum set gifted to him by his father. Although he enrolled in the University of Texas at San Antonio, he dropped out during his sophomore year to focus on making music. Scott began making beats when he was just 17. Along with his longtime friend Chris Holloway, he released an EP on MySpace in 2009. In the following year, he formed a duo called The Classmates with OG Chess and dropped two full-lengths in 2011.
All songs from both projects were produced by Scott himself. The duo broke up later in 2011 due to personal differences and financial disputes. Following the split, Scott moved to Los Angeles from Taxes where he started to record and release music. T.I. also a rapper, listened to one of Scott’s songs titled “Light (love sick)”, which he released while staying in Los Angeles. Then later contacted Scott, asking him to come down to a studio.

The following year the rapper released a collaborative album with Quavo titled Huncho Jack, Jack huncho under the group name Huncho Jack. Moving on to 2020, Scott became the first artist on the Hot 100 to have three songs debut at number one in less than a year.
He has also gained notoriety for controversies and legal issues regarding safety at his concerts. In November 2021, a mass-casualty crowd crush occurred during Scott’s performance at the Astroworld Festival in his hometown of Houston, Texas, killing ten people and injuring hundred of others.
