T’Keyah Crystal Keymáh is an actress and singer from the United States well-known for her roles on the CBS sitcom Cosby, on the Disney Channel sitcom That’s So Raven, and the host and star of the Keymáh Network sketch variety show The Cool Crystal Show, in addition to her status as a member of the original cast of the Fox sketch comedy series In Living Color.

When Keymáh was two years old when her mother Arlene Carter, a Chicago State University student, passed away. William Walker Sr., Keymáh’s father, was a trooper for the Illinois state police. He is of Seminole Indian origin and hails from Springfield, Illinois.
Keymáh was reared by her maternal grandparents, Mary Louis Zeno, a social worker with the Illinois Public Aid Department, and Carneil Carter, an insurance salesperson with Metropolitan Insurance. Keymáh’s brother, the Honorable Major General William J. Walker, is the former Commander of the DC US Army National Guard and the current Sergeant at Arms of the United States House of Representatives.
Keymáh created her first play and song in elementary school. Keymáh attended the Academy of Our Lady for high school and graduated in 1981. In high school, Keymáh performed alongside Ali LeRoi and Lance Crouther in the Mary Wong Comedy Group before enrolling in Florida A&M University’s School of Business and Industry.

She played Tanya Baxter, Raven’s mother, for three seasons on the Disney sitcom That’s So Raven. Her role was eliminated from the story in season four so that Keymáh could take care of her sick grandmother. Keymáh and fellow College alumnus Bryan C. Jones co-wrote and costarred in a two-person musical stage production called Sellout!?! Jones was also one of the numerous guests to feature on Keymáh’s popular variety show T’Keyah Live! Entertainment Tonight revealed on June 21, 2022, that Keymáh will return to the That’s So Raven spin-off series Raven’s Home, where she would play Tanya Baxter.
T’Keyah Crystal Keymáh Some of My Best Friends
Some of My Best Friends is a theatrical play with various characters in verse and prose that addresses societal concerns such as overcoming adversity, AIDS, love, race relations, and teen prostitution. Keymáh wrote the majority of the show, but Ali LeRoi, Harry Lennix, and poet Angela Jackson also contributed.
The show includes a dance choreographed by Maurice Hines and another choreographed by Keymáh. Critics have applauded Keymáh’s performance, calling her a charming actor, phenomenal, lovely, multitalented performer, and magnificent. The production has been nominated for Best Solo Performer, Best Writing, and Best Performance and Play by the AUDELCO Award, NAACP Theatre Award, and Amsterdam News. The program has received recognition for its strong depictions and memorable performances.
