Merriman’s first notable role came on the television series The Mommies, which aired from 1993 to 1995. He appears in the majority of episodes of The Pretender as a younger version of the show’s main character, Jarod. He has appeared in a number of television films, including Smart House, The Luck of the Irish, and Lansky, in which he plays the young Meyer Lansky. He first appeared in the 1999 film The Deep End of the Ocean, playing Michelle Pfeiffer’s character’s missing son, and then in the 2000 film Just Looking, as the main character, a Jewish boy from the Bronx. He portrayed Adam Eddington in another Disney Channel original film, A Ring of Endless Light. He later returned to television, appearing in Dangerous Child, Taken, and Smallville.

Merriman’s previous credits include the horror flicks Halloween: Resurrection (2002), The Ring Two (2005), and Final Destination 3 (2006). He appeared in Home of the Giants, a high school play.
