Ryan Field Career

Field began her broadcast career as a sports intern at WILX-TV, the NBC affiliate in Lansing, in 1996. His broadcasting experience includes working as a reporter and sports talk show host at WDBM Radio (88.9 FM) in East Lansing, where he was honored by the Michigan Association of Broadcasters in 1999 for “Best College Radio Sportscast.”

Since August 2000, Ryan Field had worked as a sports reporter for WJBK (Fox 2) in Detroit, and he also offered sports updates on WDFN Radio (1130 AM). During his newsbreaks at WDFN, he was notable for emphasizing the word “guaranteed.”He was the sports director and weekend sports anchor at WSYM (Fox 47) in Lansing before joining Fox 2.

Field covered the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Pistons, and Detroit Red Wings for Fox Sports Detroit from September 2003 to June 2013. Field departed FSD in August 2013 to join the debut of Fox Sports 1, where he worked as an anchor and studio presenter and appeared on shows such as Fox Sports Live, MLB Whiparound, Inside the Big East, and others. Field, along with former NBA player Jim Jackson, co-hosts a sports discussion radio show on Fox Sports Radio every Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. ET. Field joined WABC-TV as a weeknight sports anchor on October 26, 2016. On weeknights at 6 and 11 p.m., as well as on Saturday mornings, he hosts sports highlights.

His work covering local teams was recognized with a Michigan Emmy in the Sports News Feature category in 2006 for his coverage of Detroit Red Wings defenseman Jiri Fischer’s collapse during a game due to a heart issue.

Field won his first Emmy for Best Sports Anchor in 2009. Field now has a total of seven Michigan Emmys under his belt. Field appeared on an episode of The Price Is Right in the past. For Fox Sports Detroit’s Pistons game coverage, Field was the lead sideline reporter.
