In addition, he has worked in San Francisco and Washington, D.C. Sher began working for WJZ in 1975. He co-anchored the weekend newscasts from 1988 to February 1995, and then co-anchored Eyewitness News at Five until January 1998. He also co-hosted a local talk show called People Are Talking with Oprah Winfrey at the start of her career. Sher appeared as a broadcaster in Robin Williams’ 2006 film Man of the Year. Sher left WJZ on November 24, 2008, after 33 years of service.
