The group had branches in West Palm Beach, Florida; Columbia, South Carolina; Orange County, California; and Rochester, New York, in the early years of its formation. But instead, it merged with the National Center for Lost and Abused Children (NCMEC). John Walsh is also on the board of directors of NCMEC. One of the main items Walsh’s pair advocated for was the change of the legislation for child justice. They have coordinated election movements for this cause, and they have worked very hard for it.
The pair, though, had to face a lot of organizational and legislative challenges along the way. Yet with a firm will and commitment to bring about progress, they succeeded in getting the government to formulate the Missing Children Act of 1982 and the Missing Children’s Assistance Act of 1984.
