At the age of eight, he began appearing in local theatre productions, church plays, musicals, and high school talent shows, singing, dancing, and acting. Randy temporarily set aside his Hollywood ambitions to attend the University of Nebraska Architectural School before joining his older brother in the United States Air Force. After finishing his active duty, he returned to what he loved most…showbiz, performing stand-up comedy and acting in regional theatre in Chicago and other Midwest cities. Randy moved to Hollywood after a spell on the comic circuit. He quickly landed a supporting role in American History X, alongside Edward Norton and Stacy Keach.
In the same month, he was cast as Kennedy Winslow, the first Black NASCAR racer, in the Showtime series “Fast Track,” executive produced by THE Larry Gelbart (M.A.S.H. creator) He also appeared in “Livin’ for Love: The Natalie Cole Story”, “The Old Settler”, “Hyperion Bay”, and “Linc’s,” his second Showtime Network series. He would go on to star in another Showtime pilot, “Insatiable,” alongside Andie MacDowell, Lara Flynn Boyle, and Peter Facinelli. Randy is best recognized for his role in “Girlfriends” as Davis. Kelsey Grammer (Frasier) executive produced the show, and he also appeared in “L.A. Sheriff’s Homicide” and “Neurotic Tendencies.” Randy and Kelsey have collaborated on five projects.
Other guest appearances include “24”, “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation”, “Navy NCIS”, “Yes Dear”, “Coupling”, “Emeril,” “The Steve Harvey Show”, “Nash Bridges”, “The Pretender”, and “The Geena Davis Show.” Other recent television performances include recurring roles on “The Vampire Diaries,” “The Mentalist,” “The Client List,” “Love They Neighbour,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and “The Rookie.” Randy also joined the Disney family, appearing as Barry, Bennet’s publisher, in the massively successful “Dog With A Blog,” and as Vance Carroway in Disney’s newest smash, “Best Friends Whenever.”Randy has appeared in films such as “Down N’ Dirty,” starring Fred “Da Hamma” Williamson and Gary Busey, “Flip the Script,” with Robin Givens and Miguel Nunez, Jr., and “Towelhead.”
Upcoming projects include the soon-to-be-released “Ernesto’s Manifesto”, FOX’s 9-1-1, Grey’s Anatomy, and The Rookie. Randy has stepped behind the camera after receiving instruction from Quentin Tarantino and stacking many scripts over the years, starring in and producing the indie film Xander Cohen aka The Holy Man (Amazon Prime). He also recently finished filming “The Job,” a Christian/Faith-based film in which he produced, starred in, and directed. The number of focus groups and private screening reviews has skyrocketed! For two years, he was also a spokesman for the Chrysler PT Cruiser.
