David Aron Damane is a writer and actor from the United States. He made his television debut on Cosby and went on to appear on Law & Order, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Chicago P.D., Jett, and Dynasty. Damane made his television debut as Skip on Cosby in 1996. He made his Broadway debut in The Life in 1997.

Damane made his television debut as Skip on Cosby in 1996. He made his Broadway debut in The Life in 1997. In 1999, he played Chingachgook in the Goodspeed Opera House production Glimmerglass.[16] In 2000, he was named Principal Soloist in the Broadway production of Riverdance,and in 2001, he played Isaiah in the Off-Broadway drama Living in the Wind. Later that year, Damane appeared on Law & Order as James Wilson. Mr. Damane played Jake in the New York City Opera’s Porgy and Bess in 2002, which was also shown on PBS’s Live from Lincoln Centre. In 2003, he returned to Broadway in the Roundabout Theatre Company and Deaf West Theatre production of the musical Big River. The next year, he appeared on Law & Order: SVU as DuShawn McGovern.

He joined the national tour of Big River in 2005, portraying Jim for the duration of the show’s run, and earned the Ovation Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Touring Musical in 2005. In 2009, he joined the first national tour of the musical The Colour Purple. He performed Joe in Goodspeed Opera House’s Show Boat in 2011. In 2012, he returned to Broadway as George in Don’t Dress for Dinner and as the General in The Book of Mormon.  Later that year, he originated the part of the General in the show’s Chicago company, which he left in 2016. He began playing Maurice Owens on Chicago P.D. in 2013.

In 2018, he returned to the New York stage as Husky Miller in Classic Stage Company’s Carmen Jones and was nominated for a AUDELCO Award for Featured Actor in a Musical. He appeared as Eddie McKay in the Cinemax series Jett in 2019. He was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Actor in a Musical in 2020 for his role as J.J. Brown in Transport Group’s The Unsinkable Molly Brown. David appeared as Leo Abbott on The CW’s Dynasty in 2021. In the autumn of 2021, he will return to the New York stage with the new musical A Turtle on a Fence Post.
