Russom, an Emmy Award-winning journalist, spent the previous five years as a weekend anchor and general assignment reporter at NBC10 and NECN in Boston. He began his on-air career as a reporter and weekend anchor for WBNG in Binghamton, New York, before moving on to WPRI in Providence, Rhode Island, for two years as a reporter. He began his career in journalism when he was 18 years old, working for KYW Newsradio 1060 in Philadelphia, and later completed internships at NBC Philadelphia and NBC Sports for the London Olympics. In October of 2016, Russom joined NBC 10 Boston and necn. Perry won an Emmy for Outstanding Reporter in the Boston/New England Region.
He comes from WPRI-TV in Providence, Rhode Island. He started on-air in Binghamton, New York as a reporter/weekend anchor for WBNG-TV.
