Melanie Sykes is a television and radio presenter from England. She is best known for co-hosting Today with Des and Mel and Let’s Do Lunch with Gino D’Acampo with Des O’Connor. She also co-hosted Going Out with Alan Carr on BBC Radio 2 with Alan Carr from May 2010 to March 2012, and she returned with him in 2017 for Alan and Mel’s Summer Escape. Sykes currently co-hosts Shop Well For Less on BBC One with Joanna Page.

The caution was later revoked and erased from police records. Midway through the 1990s, Sykes began his career as a TV host by serving as the host of Real TV UK on Sky One. After beginning her television career as a reporter for The Big Breakfast, Sykes went on to present on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! and EastEnders Revealed. Sykes presented Melanie Sykes’ Southall Stories, a BBC Two documentary about Asian culture in the United Kingdom, in 1999. Additionally, she has presided over numerous award shows, such as Miss World, the BAFTA Awards, and the Q Awards.

Despite making a successful comeback as host of Today with Des and Mel with Des O’Connor in 2002, Sykes’ television career temporarily stagnated. On May 12, 2006, ITV made the painful but absolutely necessary decision to cancel a number of shows, including this one. Sykes has also hosted The Vault, Celebrities Under Pressure, and The British Soap Awards for ITV.

In October and November 2005, Sykes participated as a guest panelist on Loose Women. She later made a second appearance as a guest anchor in October 2008 and May 2009. From 2006 to 2009, Sykes frequently took over as The Paul O’Grady Show’s host when O’Grady was unable to do so. On eleven occasions, she served as the show’s host.

Sykes served as the host of the daytime BBC One program Gene Detectives. In 2008, Sykes served as a judge on the GMTV program “The Sofa Factor,” where viewers submitted brief videos and the winner received a trip to Las Vegas in addition to the opportunity to present TV Pick of the Day. Sykes made five guest appearances on Channel 4’s The 5 O’Clock Show with Denise van Outen in 2010.

Sykes and Paul Heiney co-hosted the three-part ITV series Missing Millions on September 13, 2011. Sykes joined BT Sport’s MotoGP team, it was announced in February 2014. She stopped watching the channel in May 2014 due to other work obligations. On April 4, 2017, it was announced that Sykes would be the new voice of Blind Date, replacing Graham Skidmore, who most notably played the part in the original series. Sykes won Star Baker in the Channel 4 competition The Great Stand Up to Cancer Bake Off in March 2018. Sykes and Joanna Page took over as the new hosts of the BBC One consumer program Shop Well for Less in 2021. It was revealed in August 2021 that Sykes would participate in BBC’s Celebrity MasterChef. She advanced to the semifinal round, where she took home the title of Star Chef on day four.
