Andrews spent a year working at her maternal grandfather’s civil rights law practice before pursuing a communications degree at the University of Portland, where she graduated in 2017. She worked as a sports journalist, sports editor, and editor-in-chief for The Beacon, the University of Portland’s student newspaper. While at school, she reported on a footballer who had a brain bleed after colliding with a wall. Following her tale in the newspaper, the school installed cushioning to prevent future injuries. Andrews introduced herself to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski at an NBA Summer League game in 2017, after he read her work at The Beacon. She interned at the Denver Post before becoming a James Reston Reporting Fellow in the sports section.
Andrews also spent a year as a reporter for the Chicago Tribune before joining ESPN.com, where he covered the Chicago Bulls and Milwaukee Bucks before heading to New York to cover the New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets.[5] Giannis Antetokounmpo walked out of the press conference after the Bucks lost to the Toronto Raptors in the 2019 Eastern Conference Finals, upset about an article written by Andrews in which he stated that he might leave Milwaukee if the Bucks did not make improvements to win the title before he became a free agent in 2021. She was one of the first reporters to arrive at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in 2020 to wrap up the 2019-20 NBA season in the Bubble.
Andrews was announced as ABC’s sideline reporter for the NBA Finals coverage on July 6, 2021, after Rachel Nichols, who was fired after audio of Nichols criticizing the network’s promotion of commentator Maria Taylor as the lead host of the Finals was leaked. Andrews participated in the short video Playoffs on NBA Lane, which promoted the 2022 NBA playoffs, alongside now-retired sportscaster Marv Albert. Andrews earned the Sports Emmy in May 2022 for Outstanding Personality/Emerging On-Air Talent. Andrews made history on June 23, 2022, as the first woman to host the NBA Draft.
