Lux was born to Chilean parents José Balmaceda and Verónica Pascal. Her parents were deported from Chile during the 1973 coup because of her mother’s ties to Andrés Pascal Allende, leader of the Chilean Revolutionary Left Movement. Lux is the youngest of four siblings; She has an elder sister named Javiera, a younger brother named Nicolás actor Pedro Pascal. Her mother was the cousin of Andrés Pascal Allende, the nephew (via his sister Laura) of socialist Chilean President Salvador Allende. Her family returned to Chile when she was three years old, and she attended Saint George’s College. Lux began studying theater at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile in 2010. She received her MFA in acting from Juilliard School in May 2023.

Lux made her stage debut in Pablo Rotemberg’s play La noche obstinada in 2014, during her fourth year of theater studies. That same year, she received her first television role as “Axel Miller” on Canal 13’s Los 80. She co-starred in the TVN soap opera Juana Brava in 2015, and the following year in the Canal 13 soap opera Veinteaero a los 40. Lux made her cinematic debut in 2016 with Fabrizio Copano and Augusto Matte’s Prueba de actitud.
Lux made her worldwide television debut in 2017, co-starring with her brother Pedro in the third season of the Netflix series Narcos as Elijah. Lux appeared in three Chilean film productions in 2019: Sebastián Badilla’s No Quiero Ser Tu Hermano, Gonzalo Maza’s Ella es Cristina, and Sebastián Muoz’s The Prince.
