In addition to authoring After Etan, Cohen began directing and producing “Serving Life” for the Oprah Winfrey Network in 2010, with Forest Whitaker serving as executive producer. The documentary follows a group of inmates at Louisiana’s Angola State Penitentiary who work in the inmate hospice. Cohen is also a media consultant who teaches journalism and television production at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. She was also the Princeton University Ferris Professor of Journalism. She is a regular contributor to Women in Crime Ink, described by the Wall Street Journal as “a blog worth reading.”
