Following The Doris Day Show, Gerritsen appeared as a guest or cameo in a number of television episodes, including The Odd Couple, Bonanza, The Courtship of Eddie’s Father, The Virginian, and Family Affairs. Gerritsen starred in numerous episodes of Gunsmoke, which helped her win her first regular part as Lydia Monroe, the bright daughter of William Windom’s character, John Monroe, a Thurber-like writer and cartoonist, on the 1969 NBC comedy series My World and Welcome to It. The somewhat dark situation comedy, which also starred Joan Hotchkis as Lydia’s mother, was inspired by author James Thurber’s cartoons and comedy, combining live-action storylines of family strife and social satire with animated cartoon characters who broke into the frame during segments featuring Monroe’s daydreams and fantasies.
Gerritsen (billed as Lisa True Gerritsen) played Hannah Carson on the 1970 TV western The Men From Shiloh (the rebranded name for The Virginian) in the episode “Hannah”.
