Jeremy Russell Gelbwaks is an American actor who appeared in the television series The Partridge Family (1970-71). He is an actor best known for The Partridge Family (1970) and This Is Your Life (1970).

He worked in the computer industry until 1999, then studied business at Columbia University before becoming a management consultant. Gelbwaks graduated from Hermon Dekalb Central School (Hermon, NY) in 1978 and was a member of the National Honor Society. His father Norman taught computer science at the State University of New York at Potsdam.

Gelbwaks was the first actor to play the character Chris Partridge. He departed the show after the first season and was replaced by Brian Forster in the summer of 1971. According to his Partridge Family co-star David Cassidy, Gelbwaks “had a personality conflict with every person in the cast, and with the producers”. Shirley Jones stated in a 2005 interview with the Television Academy Foundation that Gelbwaks “was not happy doing [the show]… his parents wanted him to do it, so we replaced him”. Gelbwaks withdrew from acting when his family relocated from California to Reston, Virginia, a suburb of Washington, D.C., where they lived for a year and a half before relocating back to Connecticut and then to Potsdam, NY. The official reason in 1971 for Gelbwaks leaving the show was that his father’s job had been transferred to West Virginia. However, in a 2005 interview with the Television Academy Foundation, Shirley Jones mentioned that “he was not happy doing it .. his parents wanted him to do it, so we replaced him”.
