Bartlett previously presented the morning show on ABC radio station 720 ABC Perth for six years. He formerly worked as a news anchor and reporter for STW 9 in Perth and GWN in Bunbury. He formerly worked at 3SR in Shepparton, Victoria, and Triple M in Sydney. He was a columnist for the News Corporation journal The Sunday Times while working on Perth radio stations. He has presented current events and news on television as the host of The 7.30 Report in Western Australia, ABC TV, and the Nine Network Australia (GTV Melbourne). Bartlett attended the Australian Constitutional Convention in 1998. He was an elected legislator who ran as an independent candidate in the election.
Bartlett was awarded a Churchill Fellowship in 2002 to study investigative journalism. He visited the United States and the United Kingdom for three months. He departed Perth radio station 6PR in July 2006, following a shift from rival station 720 ABC Perth, to join 60 Minutes, where he would present until 2012, before quitting the media and accepting a position at Shell International’s Creative Visual unit in London. From the 2015 season, he returned to the Nine Network and 60 Minutes. In 2021, Bartlett will also return to 6PR, which is now owned by Nine Entertainment, to lead its morning show while continuing to work as a reporter on 60 Minutes. Bartlett announced his resignation from 6PR and 60 Minutes in September 2022, effective the following November. In April 2023, Bartlett joined the Seven Network’s flagship current affairs program 7NEWS Spotlight as a reporter.
