Kerman has appeared on Adam DeVine’s House Party, High Maintenance, Strangers, and Comedy Bang! Bang!, among other series. He was chosen to write for the 2016 Academy Awards by host Chris Rock. He made his first recurring appearance as Jered on the first season of Issa Rae’s written comedy series Insecure in 2016. The role led to more visibility. Kerman has his own Comedy Central Stand-Up Presents special, Lightskinned Feelings, in September 2018. On the same day, he released an hour-long comedy album of the same name, which was recorded in San Francisco’s Punchline Comedy Club. It was selected as one of Vulture’s Top 10 Comedy Albums of 2018.

Kerman lends her voice to IMDb’s 2019 animated series You’re Not a Monster. He also appears in the 2019 Comedy Central series The New Negroes and is a writer and recurring actor on HBO Max’s South Side.He was a series regular on Bless This Mess’s second season and had a recurring part on The Boys’ second season Kerman launched the iHeartRadio Network comedy podcast My Momma Told Me in August 2020. He examines numerous Black conspiracy beliefs taught to him and his guests by their mothers. Kerman co-created and appears in the Peacock series Bust Down, which premieres in 2022.
