She has appeared in a variety of television shows, including The West Wing, Cold Case, According to Jim, Eleventh Hour, NCIS: Los Angeles, Perception, and Scandal. She has also appeared in Tomcats, Torque, 20 Feet Below, The Darkness Descending, and several Lifetime films. She can be seen as Austin Powers’ mother in the 2002 film Austin Powers in Goldmember, where she and an infant Powers are blown up in the family car by enemy agents in a flashback. Philipps was one of the original hosts of Al Gore’s Current TV network. She used to host Google Current, a daily comedic look at what people are searching for online.

She went on to host Yahoo Current Driver and Yahoo Current Traveler, two shows produced as a result of Current’s collaboration with Yahoo. Philipps also covered hard news for Current’s Vanguard division and provided in-studio coverage for the network. Philipps covered Current’s Emmy win for Best Interactive Television Service in 2007 with a pod titled “Kinga Goes to the Emmys.” Philipps joined Syfy’s new show Legend Quest in 2011.
