Kim Coles ( born Kimberly LaShaunda Coles) is an American actress, comedian, and game show host. Coles is recognized for her work as a cast member in the first season of In Living Color (1990-1991) and as Synclaire James-Jones on the television sitcom Living Single (1993-1998).

Coles has been in numerous television episodes, including Frasier (“Dr.” Mary Thomas), Six Feet Under, Celebrity Mole, Living Single, and The Geena Davis Show. Early in her career, she was one of the hosts of It’s Showtime at the Apollo. She was an original cast member of FOX’s sketch comedy series In Living Color. She left “In Living Color” to play Synclaire James on Living Single, where she earned an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series. She appears as Spirit’s mother on UPN’s One on One. Coles is a published author, with a book called I’m Free But It Will Cost You (ISBN 978-0-7868-8322-6, Hyperion Books, 1998).

Coles competed on Celebrity Mole: Hawaii and was the first competitor evicted. At the show’s reunion, she was one of just two celebrities (the other being Michael Boatman) who correctly guess Frederique van der Wal as the series’ saboteur; Kathy Griffin won, and Erik von Detten came in second. Coles also took part in the VH1 reality show Celebrity Fit Club, where she lost weight alongside other celebrities. After 16 weeks, she lost 24 pounds and nearly 4 percentage points of body fat, lowering from 34.7% to 31%. She accomplished this with the assistance of her crew, “Ralphie’s Angels”. She shed 10.2% of her body weight, lowering to 196 pounds.

Coles was a regular panelist on the second season of To Tell the Truth, which premiered in 2000. She also appeared as a guest host on two episodes of “The View.” Coles co-hosted the syndicated daytime television show In The Loop With iVillage, alongside The Apprentice winner Bill Rancic and fellow season one participant Ereka Vetrini. In September 2009, she presented the game show Pay It Off, which aired for one season on BET and was comparable to Debt. In 2010, she made an appearance on RuPaul’s Drag Race. In late 2011, she starred in an episode of TV One’s series “Life After”. Coles has also performed as a stand-up comedian, with some of her material addressing her struggles with being overweight at times.
