Riley worked as a journalist for BBC Radio Norfolk after graduating from university from September 2007 to 2011. She then moved on to BBC Look East, another Norwich-based station, where she did some presenting and sports reporting. She also worked as a sports reporter and bulletin reader for BBC Radio Cambridgeshire from November 2010 to October 2011. She briefly worked as the sports editor for Essex FM in 2007, before joining the Premier League Productions and Fox Sports (USA) teams in 2012. Riley joined NBC Sports in August 2012, providing breaking news on the Premier League from England to the American news channel. She also worked as a Match Day Live TV reporter and still freelances for NBC Sports.

Riley also joined IMG Media in August 2012, reporting on the Premier League for a global audience. In December 2012, she joined Sky Sports News as a TV reporter, presenting bulletins and news while focusing on the Premier League and Football League Championship. Riley was also a co-host on the daily ‘Good Morning Sports Fans’ show. Riley returned to Fox Sports in 2014, initially as a reporter for the Australian version before becoming a sports presenter for BFBS. Riley began working as a sports broadcaster for Qatar-based Al Jazeera Media Network in February 2015. After a brief stint freelancing during the 2015 Women’s World Cup in Canada, she continued her international work in June 2015 as an anchor of World Sport for CNN International in the Greater Atlanta area.

Riley has also hosted a number of events off-screen. In 2014, she oversaw the Colchester United end-of-season awards ceremony, as well as the Football Blogging Awards that same summer. Riley has also worked on the Inside Line, Carling Fan Events at Wembley, and London events for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. She grew up supporting her hometown club, Ipswich Town, and had a season ticket for five years before going full-time. She regularly competes in triathlons, marathons, and half-marathons while focusing on sport on camera. She is a member of the Women In Football network, which was founded in 2007 to support female colleagues in a male-dominated industry.
