She answered phones and copied faxes for distribution. She was then promoted to a producer position for the next three years. She moved to Dayton, Ohio, to work for WDTN-TV as a local news reporter. Chen claimed on The Talk that her news director informed her during her time in Dayton that she would never be a news anchor because of her “Asian eyes.”
