Jonas began his career at a young age. When he was twelve years old, he appeared in Baz Luhrmann’s Broadway production of Giacomo Puccini’s opera La Bohème. Soon after, he began working with his brothers Nick and Kevin. Soon after, the brothers were signed by Columbia Records, and they decided to form their own band. Though the name Sons of Jonas was considered at first, they eventually settled on the name Jonas Brothers. In the year 2005, the band was formed. Mandy, their debut single, was released in December 2005. Year 3000, their second single, was released in March of the following year. Finally, the group released its debut studio album It’s About Time on August 8, 2006.

Soon after, the group signed a new contract with Hollywood Records, and their second studio album, Jonas Brothers, was released. The album was a huge success, peaking at number 5 on the US Billboard 200 and selling over two million copies across the country. Jonas starred as the lead in Camp Rock, a Disney Channel Original Movie, in 2008. The film, directed by Matthew Diamond, starred Jonas as Shane Gray, a famous and reputed singer who, in order to overcome his arrogant personality, enrolls in a music camp called Camp Rock. The film did well, with nearly nine million viewers tuning in for its premiere. Camp Rock 2 was released two years later, with Jonas reprising his role.

In 2008, he and his band released their third studio album, titled A Little Bit Longer. It was well-received by critics. Jonas played the lead in the Disney Channel television series Jonas L.A., which aired in 2009. The series, which debuted in May 2009, received mixed reviews from critics but was well received by the audience. In addition, he appeared in two episodes of the award-winning American television series Hot in Cleveland. The Jonas Brothers’ fourth album, Lines, Vines, and Trying Times, was released in June 2009. The album was a smash hit, debuting at number one on the Billboard 200 and selling 247,000 copies in its first week.

After the Jonas Brothers were officially disbanded, Joe Jonas formed DNCE with Jack Lawless, Cole Whittle, and JinJoo Lee. In September 2015, they released their debut single Cake by the Ocean. Republic Records released its debut extended play Swaay in October 2015. Jonas appeared as a coach on the Australian version of The Voice in 2018. The Jonas Brothers made a comeback in 2019 with the release of a single titled Sucker in March. Happiness Begins, the band’s fifth studio album, debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 in June 2019.
