James Remar is a well-known American actor. Over the course of his 40-year career, he has appeared in a number of films, including The Warriors, 48 Hours, The Cotton Club, Miracle on 34th Street, Sex and the City, and Dexter. He has been doing voice-over work in Lexus luxury car commercials since 2009. Remar studied acting at New York City’s Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre.

He appeared as Peter Gambi in the American superhero drama television series Black Lightning. Gambi was first seen returning to his shop late at night. He came to Jefferson’s aid as he lay unconscious on the floor. Gambi reminded Jefferson that he became Black Lightning to provide hope to the community. He told him that the violence would never end and that he was always the loser. Gambi was listening to Jefferson rant about Lala and Will not being arrested for kidnapping his daughter in LaWanda: The Book of Hope.
Gambi told Jefferson that he understood him, but that if he died at the Seahorse Motel, the city would have no chance of rising up and fighting the 100. He suggested Jefferson put on his suit again and hack the Freeland Police Department in order to find Will.
James Remar City on a Hill
He appeared as Richard “Richy” Ryan, Frankie and Jimmy’s Father in the American crime drama series City on a Hill. The series debuted on June 7, 2019 (online) and June 16, 2019 (television) (Showtime). Showtime renewed the series for a second season on August 2, 2019, which will premiere on March 28, 2021. The series was renewed for a third season on June 2, 2021, with the first episode airing on July 31, 2022. Showtime canceled the series after three seasons on October 27, 2022.
James Remar Beware the Batman
He voiced Black Mask in The Batman and Silver Monkey in Beware the Batman. The show introduces Black Mask as a powerful and mysterious crime boss. While his origins are unknown, his mask cannot be removed, making it impossible to tell if he is Roman Sionis, Black Mask’s true identity. Lex Luthor hires him in season 5 to capture Lois Lane in order to attract Superman. Also appears in two issues of The Batman Strikes!.
Lady Shiva is the League of Assassins’ leader, and Silver Monkey is her right-hand man. In “Family,” it was revealed that Silver Monkey was collaborating with Bethanie Ravencroft to lure Bruce Wayne to the Argus Club in order to convince Katana to hand over the Soultaker Sword. He believed he kept the plan from Lady Shiva in order to obtain the Sword and depose her as leader, but Lady Shiva discovered him and had him punished, and she took the sword for herself.
James Remar Dexter
In the Showtime series DEXTER, he portrayed Harry Morgan, a homicide detective and Dexter Morgan’s adoptive father. Dexter Morgan’s adoptive father, Harry, taught him the Harry Code, which allowed him to live freely as a serial killer. Harry died from suicide over ten years before the first season, which was misdiagnosed as heart failure. He committed suicide after witnessing Dexter dismembering a man.
Harry worked for the Miami Metro Police Department as a homicide detective. He was Dexter Morgan’s adoptive father and Debra Morgan’s biological father. When Dexter was three years old, Harry discovered him at the crime scene and adopted him as his own son. Dexter displayed psychopathic tendencies from a young age, which Harry immediately recognized.
