While still working as a receptionist, Hardstark and her friend Alie Ward devised the McNuggetini in 2009. She blogged about it on the website This Recording, and Hardstark and Ward quickly made an instructional video on how to make the drink. According to Hardstark, after the video went viral on YouTube, someone from the Cooking Channel messaged the couple on Facebook, asking if they would make more instructional cocktail videos for the channel.
