There, he studied theatre and appeared in high school productions of Godspell and Pippin. McCormack graduated from high school in 1982 and went on to study acting at Ryerson University School of Theatre in Toronto. He graduated from Ryerson in 1985 but left a few months later to take a job at the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, Ontario, where he performed for five seasons.
