Dick Johnson is an American news anchor and reporter who presently works as a street reporter and weekend anchor at WMAQ-TV. He began his career as a reporter and anchor at WMAQ-TV in 2002. He has won various prizes, including the Emmy Award and the DuPont-Columbia Award (the broadcast equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize).

Johnson hosted the 5 p.m. news at KDFW-TV in Dallas, where he was also a political reporter, before moving to Chicago in 1982. He began his journalistic career with WTHR-TV in Indianapolis. Johnson’s work has earned him national and regional Emmys, a Dupont-Columbia, and, most recently, a Peabody Award as part of an NBC5 team led by Carol Marin.

Johnson has covered every type of election campaign, from the president to the mayor.

He has also appeared in NBC’s “Chicago Fire”, the hit movie “Barbershop 2” and the 2009 film “Chicago Overcoat”.
