Rodgers made his first television appearance in 1985, when he joined KMST-TV in Monterey, California. Later, he worked for KSBW-TV in Salinas, California. He then worked at KIRO-TV in Seattle, WA before moving on to WXIA-TV. Del Rodgers works as the Sports Director for KCRA in Sacramento, California. In 1997, he joined the KCRA 3 Sports department. After three years, Del, who is well-liked and respected, was promoted to sports director. Monday through Friday, he anchors the sportscasts.
Rodgers is a former professional American football player who was drafted in the third round by the Green Bay Packers in 1982. Rodgers, a 6’1″ running back-kickoff returner from the University of Utah, was the school’s first 1,000-yard rusher. Rodgers joined KCRA 3 in 1997. Rodgers was a member of the Green Bay Packers from 1982 to 1985. On December 9, 1984, he made a 97-yard kick return for a touchdown against the Chicago Bears, which still stands as a Soldier Field Record by an opponent. After missing a year due to injury, he returned to the league and spent two years with the San Francisco 49ers from 1987 to 1988, winning a Super Bowl.
