Ryan made her 2006 Barney and Friends television debut. She played Bailey Pickett in The Suite Life on Deck, the Disney Channel Original Series. Ryan landed a starring role in the independent feature film in 2009, What If… Kevin Sorbo and Kristy Swanson aside. She appeared in the young adult movie 16 Wishes in 2010. In October 2009, the first Tween Girl Summit Music Festival was organized by Ryan. She was scheduled to headline the “Terrific Teen Tour” a concert series co-headlined by Mitchel Musso, Jasmine Richards, and Savannah Outen, but due to scheduling issues, the tour was canceled.
Ryan appeared in The Suite Life Movie on March 25, 2011, based on the show she had starred in. On July 6, she released her debut solo single, We Ended Right, an alternative hip hop hit. Ryan landed her own Disney Channel series called Jessie in 2011, it was reported. In August 2012, in the Tinker Bell film Secret of the Wings, she voiced the character, Spike.
In 2012, with guitarist Kyle Moore and drummer Johnny Franco, she founded an indie band, The Never Ending. On 5 June 2017, the series premiered. She’s going to play Maddie Finn, a former host of The Lunch Hour and Kibby’s competitor.
Ryan revealed via her Instagram account in June 2017 that Netflix had ordered Insatiable for the season. On August 10, 2018, the first season premiered. The series was canceled after two seasons on February 14, 2020. Ryan appeared in the Netflix drama film Horse Girl, which was directed by Jeff Baena, alongside Alison Brie in 2020. The same year, Ryan was cast in Adam Randall’s upcoming thriller film, Night Teeth. In The Opening Act, directed by Steve Byrne, she will also appear. In a 2009 interview with People, Ryan mentioned that her acting hero is her Suite Life co-star, Brenda Song.
