Lyn was cast in 1969 as Dodie Harper Douglas, the daughter of Steve Douglas’ second wife, on the long-running family comedy television series My Three Sons. The show’s plot saw Steve adopting Dodie, and Lyn stayed with the show until it concluded in 1972. Lyn later worked on several popular series, including Emergency! and Wonder Woman. Lyn appeared in Gregory Peck’s western Shoot Out in 1971. She also appears in the Walking Tall trilogy. She played Reagan on multiple occasions in the 1974 NBC series Born Free. She also played a recurrent role in the 1977 television series The Red Hand Gang. In 1974, Lyn featured in the cult classic Devil Times Five, when Lyn’s character Little Moe tosses a bucket of piranhas into a bathtub to murder the character Lovely, played by Lyn’s mother, Carolyn Stellar. Lyn performed live voice acting with the Avalon Community Theater Radio Troupe from 1997 to 2006.

Lyn was hospitalized for five days on October 13, 2022, for brain surgery to remove a benign tumor. On October 22, 2022, she fell into a coma due to bacterial meningitis. Lyn was comatose in the ICU for a month before regaining consciousness. As of March 25, 2024, she is still in the hospital, making moderate progress toward recovery. Her EEG suggests that she will eventually make a full recovery. Her television brother Stan Livingston and sister Tina Cole keep track of her progress, and Cole pays her frequent visits.
