He then switched to television, first working at WTVW in Evansville, Indiana, and later at WTHI-TV in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was an anchor for CNN Headline News from 1982 until 2000, and was one of the founding anchors at the network’s Atlanta International Headquarters. As of 2016, he lives outside of Atlanta, Georgia.
Goodnow was a DeMolay member who is inducted into the DeMolay International Hall of Fame as well as the DeMolay Legion of Honor. He was initiated as a Master Mason in Lessing Lodge No. 464 in Evansville, Indiana. He also received the 33° degree of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, and the Grand Lodge of Indiana’s Caleb B. Smith award.
