Auser made his film debut in School Ties (1992), alongside Brendan Fraser, Matt Damon, Chris O’Donnell, and Ben Affleck, among others. Following that, Affleck landed a role in Richard Linklater’s Dazed and Confused. In the 1995 John Singleton film Higher Learning, Hauser played the leader of the campus neo-Nazi skinheads. Hauser would later reunite with Affleck and Damon in the film Good Will Hunting (1997). He starred as William J. Johns in Pitch Black in 2000 and voiced the character in the prequel video game.  In Hart’s War, he co-starred with Bruce Willis and Colin Farrell as a racist American prisoner of war. In Tears of the Sun, he portrayed a Navy SEAL.
