Gore is the editor-in-chief and founder of Movies Threat magazine, which he founded in 1985 to cover independent and underground movies. From 1993 to 1995, he was also the executive editor of Computer Player Magazine.  During this period, he also made his first television appearances as an editorialist and pundit on the condition of video games and society on the Jones Computer Network, the network television forerunner of ZDTV. Gore has previously appeared on the G4 television show Attack of the Show, as well as a film-related segment on the weekly FX series The X Show. In 2000, he was also the host and moderator of The New Movie Show with Chris Gore, which aired on FX and featured a panel of critics and actors.

My Big Fat Independent Movie, a humorous pastiche of other indie films starring Pauly Shore, was co-written and produced by Gore. His works include The 50 Greatest Movies Never Made, The Ultimate Film Festival Survival Guide, The Complete DVD Book: Designing, Producing, and Marketing Your Independent Film on DVD, and The Complete DVD Book: Designing, Producing, and Marketing Your Independent Film on DVD.  Gore was also a co-creator of Sci-Fi Universe magazine and the now-defunct Wild Cartoon Kingdom magazine. Following his termination from The Ren & Stimpy Show in September 1992, John Kricfalusi utilized the pen name “Thomas Paine” to anonymously criticize Nickelodeon.

He hosted the game show Ultimate Film Fanatic in 2004. Gore was interviewed for the Star Wars documentary The Prequels Strike Back: A Fan’s Journey in 2016. In 2023, he published the documentary Attack of the Doc, which discussed the history of G4 and how much culture has evolved between the network’s inception and its demise in 2022, as well as how individuals online have become what G4 was like when it was on TV in the 2000s and early 2010s.
