She has been recognized by Cary Magazine and received the Gold Futures Challenge Prize. Koneru worked in the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice during her third year of law school at UNC Chapel Hill in 2008. Following graduation, she worked with the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights and the pro-choice organization NaralNC before co-founding North Carolina Asian Americans Together (NCAAT) with Ricky Leung in 2016. NCAAT is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing civic engagement in North Carolina’s Asian population. In 2021, Cary Magazine named her an Honoree of the Women of Western Wake.[8] In 2022, Gold House presented her with the Gold Futures Challenge Prize. Koneru is a 2023-24 council member for the North Carolina Council for Women. In addition, she serves on the executive committee of the Asian American Power Network.
