Awsten Career
Waterparks was formed by Knight and his teammate Gage Matthieu. Both Knight and Matthieu were already members of other bands when they formed the band in 2011. On August 17, 2012, they performed their first show at Houston’s Warehouse Live. Knight and his bandmates took the stage alongside other notable musicians such as Invent, Animate, DWHB, and Life as Lions. In the years that followed, Awsten Knight and his band performed at various local venues throughout Texas. In 2013, Knight’s band opened for pop musician Aaron Carter on his Houston tour. On November 6, 2015, the band received a boost when it signed with Equal Vision Records. Benji and Joel Madden took over as producers.
Cluster, their debut EP, was released on January 15, 2016. The album was co-produced by Benji Madden, and Knight had the opportunity to perform with Good Charlotte at The Troubadour in West Hollywood, California. Knight and the band released a single called Stupid For You, and their other album, Double Dare, was released in November 2016. Awsten and his band members worked on their second album, Entertainment, which was released on January 26, 2018. The album includes ten songs, including Peach and Not Warriors. The band’s popularity has earned them numerous awards. The band won Best Breakthrough Artist and Best International Breakthrough Artist at the Alternative Press Music Awards and The Rocksound Awards in 2016.
