Angel made his acting debut in the 2008 picture Jolene when he was only five. Angel began his career by performing in a number of theater performances. When Angel was seven years old, Desert Stages Theatre conducted auditions for the musical Oliver!, and with his parents’ approval, he auditioned and was cast. His mother promised to take him to Los Angeles if he performed in productions such as The Little Mermaid, Seussical, Mary Poppins, and Into the Woods at Scottsdale’s Desert Stages Theatre. Angel’s mother honored her word, and he traveled to Los Angeles at the age of 12 to audition and win the role of Jonah Beck in the Disney Channel television series Andi Mack.
Angel starred as Billy Batson in the cinematic adaption of DC Comics’ Shazam!, with Zachary Levi as his adult superhero alter ego. The picture, which is another episode in the DC Extended Universe, received critical acclaim. Angel’s debut single, “One Thought Away” featuring Wiz Khalifa, was released in 2019. He reprised his role as Billy Batson in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which was released on March 17, 2023. In February 2022, Angel joined the cast of Hulu’s Darby and the Dead. Angel’s casting in the thriller Lazareth and the teen romance 99 Days was confirmed in May 2023.
