Her first job in television reporting was for Torrance CitiCable, a public-access television cable TV station in Los Angeles, California. Goff worked as the personal assistant to Entertainment Tonight anchor Mark Steines during this time. Following that, Goff worked as an anchor and reporter for CBS affiliate KMEG-TV in Sioux City, Iowa. She then worked as a news anchor and reporter at WIS-TV in Columbia, South Carolina, from 2004 to 2007. Goff won a regional Emmy Award while working at the Columbia, South Carolina-based station.
